Four Foreign Inmates Escaped from Kerobokan Prison

There is no tool had been found in the area that might used by them to make that tunnel.

TRIBUN-BALI.COM, DENPASAR - Four foreign inmates who stayed at Bedugul Room, Class IIA, Denpasar escaped from Kerobokan Prison, Monday (19/6/2017). 

They are Shaun Edward Davidson namely Eddie Lonsdale namely Michael John Bayman from Australia, Sayeb Mohammed Said from India, Dimitar Nikolov Iliev from Bulgaria and Malaysian citizen, Tee Kok King. The four escaped through tunnel that used to be septic tanks. The tunnel located beside the prison toilet.

As investigated by Tribun Bali, that tunnel goes to the west part out of prison, to Mertanadi street, Kerobokan.  Its diameter is about 50 cm x 75 cm with 15 meter length. The police found it filled by water.

Then they double checked whether those inmates are gone or stuck inside. Head of Kerobokan Prison, Tonny Nainggolan, confirms those four inmates had gone.

“We know it once we do shifting, in the morning at 07.00 am. It was raining and we did not see them. The person who in charge that morning report to their leader, then they search to the whole area, checking the wall,” Tonny said.

Later, they saw tunnel cover that used to be septic tanks. It was a hole in it. After checking it, they found a hole outside prison, beside tower post.

He said he never thought about that tunnel.

There is no tool had been found in the area that might used by them to make that tunnel.

They only found basket, and several fabric. “And we found sandal. We are pretty sure that they escape through this tunnel. They may plan it very well,” he added.

The four broke ceiling to escape, then they went behind clinic. “The door was locked. It is only 20 meter away from their room to go to clinic,” told him.

Tonny asked others inmates whether they saw them.

“One says he saw Sayeb Mohammed Said at 06.30 am. We still asking about the rest. Whether others inmates involved in it or not,” he stated.

He also checked CCTV. But none of them catch the escape.

“There is no problem on the CCTV. They are 25 of them and all work. But we can't find it because they went through underground,” he explained.

He said there were 10 guards in charge. Six guards in charge at the whole area, and 4 guards are at the tower.
