In first example, the subject is singular. So, we add apostrophe+s (‘s) after the subject.
In second example, the subject is plural and ends with an ‘s’, so the possessive is formed by adding an apostrophe after the ‘s’. No additional ‘s’ is necessary.
Note that we can change the underlined expressions into:
• Its fur is black.
• Their legs are long.
